Hello, I'm Paul, one half of the dynamic duo behind Guildford Pottery, known as Wheeler & Choi.
Collaborating with Choi for the past 18 months has led us to establish a new pottery studio offering pottery classes in the heart of Guildford. At the pottery, we make our own individual work, collaborate on commissions and, of course, we offer teaching!
My passion for clay ignited during my time studying in Japan back in 2008. Since then, I've dedicated myself to honing my craft, which led me to retrain in ceramics at Clay College in 2017 after years of practice at drop-in studios and evening classesand at home.
Since graduating in 2019, I've had the privilege of participating in three series of the Great Pottery Throwdown and creating pottery for various notable UK film and TV productions.
In addition to my creative endeavors, I've also shared my knowledge by teaching at UCA in Farnham and contributing to the setup and management of a pottery studio in the same area.
Working with clay is not just a profession for me; it's a continuous journey filled with challenges and discoveries. I believe that traditional crafts offer insights into human history that are unparalleled, and I'm excited to share more about our experiences and musings on this fascinating industry through our regular posts. Thanks for reading!
